The Benefits Of Cloud Environments Over Traditional Shared Hosting

Cloud hosting is the technology that is on every body's lips
at the moment.  Traditionally, websites have been hosted on
standard dedicated servers.  The way normal web hosting
works is a web host will have multiple dedicated servers.  A

shared hosting account is kept on one dedicated server.
Sometimes with shared hosting, your email, website and
databases will be hosted on separate servers.  When it comes
down to it though, all your eggs are in one basket.   Thus,
if that one dedicated server goes wrong, your website will
go offline.   A cloud environment avoids this problem.
Cloud panels have strength in numbers.

Scalability is the brilliance of cloud hosting.  It is
completely pay as you go.  If you only need a small amount
of resources, you only need and pay for the CPU and memory
you use.  If you are suddenly hit with loads of traffic, the
cloud will let you expand instantly.  Cloud hosts
automatically assign what power you need.   You will never
find your website goes offline due to demand.  Youd just
have to pay extra for the resources you have used. This
makes cloud hosting extremely cost effective.  Remember you
are still in a virtual hosting environment of your own- no
sharing.   No need for an expensive dedicated server

The reliability of cloud hosts is perhaps an argument for
interpretation.  There are however, many arguments for.   As
we mentioned with standard shared hosting, the website is at
the mercy of a single dedicated server.   Cloud hosting
brings multiple nodes or servers together.  So if one node
goes offline, the rest of the cloud is completely
unaffected.  Cloud hosting surely has to be considered more

It is extremely quick to deploy and manage cloud hosting.
Dedicated servers mean you have to firsty deploy the
hardware.   Then you have to setup software and services.
Not with a cloud host.  Cloud hosts simply insert new
hardware, and it is brought into the cloud as a whole.

One thing to consider about cloud hosting, is it is a
relatively new technology. There are a few down sides with
cloud hosting, where a traditional dedicated server or
shared hosting environment can offer bigger benefits.
However think of the reliability, the scalability and cost
improvements.  Those hosts that don't already have a cloud
product, are developing one right now.   This speaks
volumes.  Traditional hosting cannot keep up with a cloud
environment.  Cloud hosts are going to get more and more
reliable as time goes on.
