Turkey to mass produce domestic UAV

Next Media - Turkey’s has completed test flights and is preparing to start mass production on its first domestically produced unmanned aerial vehicle the ANKA.

The ANKA finished its test program with the Turkish Armed Forces in missions against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party.

Mass production is expected to start soon on the ANKA.

Final test flights were completed on Tuesday. The ANKA left from a base in Ankara and flew non-stop for 18 hours towards Konya.

The ANKA has a wingspan of 17.3m and a length of 8m. It has a combat radius of 200km. It has a maximum speed 75 knots per hour and can lift a 200kg payload to a maximum height of 9,144m. The ANKA can fly for 24 hours at a time.

The UAV is equipped with electro-optic cameras that can track stationary and moving targets.

The ANKA will be used in missions against militants and will help the military locate terrorists.
