Astronomers of the European Southern Observatory say they have discovered a gas cloud "several times the mass of the Earth accelerating towards the black hole at the centre of the Milky Way."
IN SPACE (ESO)stronomers of the Munich-based European Southern Observatory (ESO) released a simulation on Friday (January 10) after saying they had discovered "for the first time ever" a gas cloud accelerating towards the black hole at centre of the Milky Way.
"This is the first time ever that the approach of such a doomed cloud to a supermassive black hole has been observed," ESO said on its website.The simulation released shows "how the cloud will break up over the next few years," according to ESO scientists who used a "very large telescope" for their findings.
