Indian inventor, Kranthi Vistakula, 33, has developed a nano-technology used to produce heat-controllable clothing. Vistakula was a student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology when he found inspiration in New England’s brutal winters. The native of Hyderabad grew frustrated bundling up to get around in the cold, only to wind up peeling off layers once inside.
This led him to develop ClimaCon, which is based on the Peltier effect. When an electric current passes through two different metals that are joined, one side cools while the other heats up. The opposite happens when the current is reversed. Vistakula expanded on this to accommodate for the release of body heat by using special materials, including a heat sink.Vistakula has already created several products available to the public, including ClimaWare, his clothing line. He also has plans for other products, including a jacket for cows that will cool them off, making them more productive.
