USA-BUSINESS UPDATE - For the first time - Microsoft's Internet Explorer web browser has fallen from the top spot in a major market. According to web analytics firm StatCounter: Mozilla's Firefox has taken the lead in Europe, but the fast growing adoption of Google's Chrome is really what's eating away at Microsoft's dominance. StatCounter says this is most likely a result of Microsoft's landmark anti-trust agreement with EU regulators to offer consumers more choice.
U.S. department store retailer Macy's plans to hire more than 700 workers as it beefs up its online presence. Internet sales surged nearly 30 percent in the first three quarters of the fiscal year at Macys.com and
Bloomingdales.com, the company's upscale brand.In economic news, American factory orders surprisingly rebounded in November, according to government data, adding to signs the recovery was gathering momentum at the end of last year.
