TALLINN, ESTONIA (MARCH 25, 2012) (REUTERS) - As the Estonian capital revs up for the Tallinn Music Week, nearly 100 IT and entertainment industry specialists brainstorm to try and create new and revolutionary mobile phone and computer music applications in time for the March fair.
Global software developers, designers and marketing experts gather in the Estonian capital for the Garage48 Music 2012 workshop, where they have 48 hours to try and create new revolutionary internet or mobile services in the field of music and entertainment.
Organisers of Garage 48, an organistaion that provides the platform for this brainstorming, allocates premises for the development of the project and provides an environment where people can meet over 48 hours to try and turn ideas into ready-to-use products.
The results of this year's meet: 14 new applications, games and web services, which could soon appear in stores around the world.
The 'Mega Speaker' internet service was selected as the best product by workshop participants. Using this software you can turn any device connected to the Internet into a loudspeaker - any mobile phone, computer, tablet or Smart TV. The audio played on one device can be played on the others simultaneously through the Internet.
"Everything is in perfect sync. So, you don't have to worry about anything. You will just walk from room to room, it's just example... from room to room and everything is in sync. And you don't have to buy anything or install anything, that's all", said one of the 'Mega Speaker' developers Olavi Tonisson.
An Estonian architect Hannes Praks has created a very simple, but unusual music selection application. It is based on showing users the place where a song they like was written or created.
"I'm working with room and with environment and I started to think if the environment somehow affects music creation process. So I thought that it would be cool if there are kind of solution, technical solution which allows user to discover musical history of certain place or street or neighbourhood," said the author of the idea Hannes Praks.
One hundred software developers, designers, marketing experts and visionaries from Estonia and abroad took part in for Garage48 Music 2012 workshop in Tallinn.
"Very often in my day-to-day work I hit a wall where I can't do something that I want to do and I realize how far we still have to go. And I think it's happening very, very quickly but there are still some big answers coming, there are still some big, big plays coming. maybe we'll find one here, I don't know," said Chris Douridas, a two-time Grammy nominated music supervisor from the United States.
By the end of the workshop the best products and services were market ready and available for anyone online.
